Refractory Bricks

Maintenance of refractory materials at the mouth of rotary kiln

Dec 22,2020

The rotary kiln mouth guard plate protects the kiln mouth from burning damage, wear, and deformation. The effective kiln mouth cylinder of the kiln mouth guard plate causes damage, which will also affect the replacement of kiln mouth refractory bricks or refractory castables.
Therefore, proper structure should be used to reduce the maintenance cost and improve the operation rate of the furnace.
(1) Reasonable type of kiln mouth cylinder
When replacing, cut off the old kiln shell first. How to ensure the verticality of the end face of the slit is very difficult, and how to ensure the concentricity and straightness when re-welding. It is not easy either. Therefore, in foreign countries, the kiln mouth cylinder is made into a separate section, and the flange and the cantilever short cylinder of the kiln body are bolted together, which can be replaced and searched. At the same time, it also reduces the use of The deformation increases the aperture. Advantageously, the end of the kiln tube extending into the kiln head cover should be adapted to the shape of different forms of kiln mask, but special reinforcement measures should be taken to avoid premature deformation. In short, the use of flanged kiln shell is a structure worthy of promotion and should be promoted in the gradual design.
(2) Reasonable shape of kiln mouth guard
Therefore, the use of well-shaped kiln mouth guards is of great significance to the protection of refractory castables.
(3) Improvement of the connection mode of the kiln mouth guard
The heat-resistant steel bolts commonly used inside are fixed, and accidents such as loosening and cuts often occur, which is very inconvenient to replace. The use of inverted pins and fixing is a simple and easy-to-use structure. The heat-resistant steel pins and fixing forks can be used as many times as needed. With alternate structure fixed guards, there are obviously more kilns to be placed than ordinary guards, and the installation and disassembly methods are simple and quick.
(4) Give full play to the role of castable
The refractory castable can fully protect the capacity of the refractory castable without deformation. This will extend the use of refractory castables. life.
(5) Control of the adjacent coaxial gap between the kiln mouth guard
Starting from the two ends of the kiln head, the kiln mouth guard is composed of multiple sectors, forming a ring. It must expand after heating, and the temperature of the inner port is much higher than the temperature of the outer flange. Therefore, during design, manufacture and installation, a radial expansion gap must be left between two adjacent blocks. Otherwise, it is easy to cut off the coupling fixing bolts during the working process, so that the kiln shell quickly becomes a trumpet shape. It is difficult to control the size of castings placed on the kiln mouth guard. Therefore, after installation, in the past, due to lack of harm to this phenomenon, this situation was not dealt with, resulting in a very short life of the kiln. In this case, it should be handled in time and must be polished to ensure that the smallest gap between the two adjacent kiln mouth guards can meet the design gap requirements. Excessive gaps can be filled with asbestos, rock wool, etc. to ensure that no leakage occurs during casting.
It is very important to reasonably control the radial clearance of the kiln tail cover, but this is often overlooked during installation and maintenance. This is an extremely important reason for the premature interruption of the kiln mouth guard and the rapid formation of the kiln tube.
