Refractory Bricks

The correct mixing method of Refractory Material

May 27,2017

Before using refractory castables, be sure to understand the correct mixing method, if the random operation, will cause damage, the effect is poor. Refractory castable proper mixing method: refractory casting materials are dry material supply, in the installation before the use of water or other mixing solution for mixing. After the mixing process began construction.

Precautions for using refractory castables

1.Using the whole bag of refractory material, can not use already open, damaged and wet material.

2.The materials produced by two different manufacturers can not be mixed, and two different materials can not be mixed.

3.No additives such as cement, limestone, etc. (except steel fibers) may be added to the material unless approved by the manufacturer.

4.There are caking or seepage refractory in the bag that can not be used. In the transport and storage of refractory materials, may be pressed into pieces, this agglomeration can be gently rubbed by hand, will not affect the performance of refractories.

5.The mixing, transporting and installation of the material shall be in accordance with the manufacturer's recommended mixing temperature range for a particular material. The proper mixing temperature ensures the physical properties of the castable.

6.The installer shall make the necessary temperature control measures for the appropriate mixing temperature.

7.If the material manufacturer specifies that the total mixing time from the addition of water shall not be less than 3 minutes and not more than 5 minutes. For low, ultra low and no refractory materials, the mixing time is the main factor determining the final physical properties of the material.

8.The amount of refractory material each time, depending on the workload, should not be too large to ensure that the mixed material is installed before molding.

9.Refractory material after the release of the mixer should be immediately transported to the installation site. Mixing, adding water, conveying and refractory construction intervals shall be in accordance with the material manufacturer's specifications.

10. During the transport of the mixture, measures shall be taken to prevent the separation of the material.
