Refractory Bricks

The special performance requirements of AZS brick in glass kiln furnace

Mar 18,2017
As the glass AZS brick with low porosity, high density, high glass phase precipitation temperature , anti-glass erosion ability, high refractoriness, it is the most economical and practical use of glass kiln lining material. The bricks are more brittle and we should avoided the collisions when moving, processing, packaging, transportation and so on. Due to the reasons for the production and processing technology, there will be some quality problems during AZS brick’ s processing, such as surface flatness, casting shrinkage, cracks, missing edge, angle, etc.,so there has a quality standard in this Industry. In order to improve the quality, Zhengzhou Dengda combined with Xipu, Asahi Glass and other related business standards, developed our company processing acceptance criteria.
Industry Standard(JC493-2001)
Parts of our company processing acceptance criteria:
1.Flatness of finished brick.
Appears concave, raised can not be processed out the bricks of the paper size,As a substandard goods.
As shown in the figure below, the brick surface is placed horizontally, if the measured maximum distance S1 is concave. The average of S2 and S3 is raised.
S1:Masonry <0.4㎜,Non-working face(The outer surface of the tank)<1.0㎜,working face(The inside surface of the tank)Not allowed.
S2:Masonry<0。4㎜; Non-working face(The outer surface of the tank)<1.0㎜;working face(The inside surface of the tank)≤5㎜.
<Note>: The right angle of each brick must be kept at 90 degrees.
2.Grinding is divided into coarse grinding, grinding, mirror grinding and peeling processing, according to the different requirements of the use of grinding different ways.Brick surface with a layer of more uniform bubble layer (epidermal bubbles), the general processing of the epidermal bubbles can be worn away; according to my company for many years experience, dense layer of the thickness of the furnace life has a great impact, if the brick surface processing too deep,it will damage the lower layer of the bubble layer dense layer, resulting in lower kiln life.
3.shrinkage cavity
3.1  QX and PT AZS brick:Due to the special manufacturing method, the nozzle will be large, and the nozzle can not be buried. Except for special requirements. The brick quality is determined by the bulk density (specific gravity). See Table 5.2 for the specific requirements. 3.2 WS and ZWS AZS brick:With a diameter of 4 mm rod measurement, insert the depth that is the depth of the hole. Shrinkage area refers to the depth of more than 2 mm coarse crystal embedded rectangular area of the sum (Σa × b), but excluding 10 mm × 10 mm below.
1).WS AZS brick: determining depth≤mm, hole area≤5% cross sectional area.
2).ZWS AZS brick: determining depth<50mm, area<30% cross sectional area.
4.Crack :
4.1 Definition
1).surface crack: Formative by rapid cooling of brick surface after casting , the general performance is map crack。
2).crack in the surface: One side can be seen, there is no crack through to the opposite . Can be judged by visual and slight beating.
3).penetrating crack: Cracks through the brick opposite
4).crack across edge: Adjacent two sides have uninterrupted cracks.
5).Three sides circumferential crack: Adjacent three sides have uninterrupted cracks.
4.2.Inspection standard
1).Surface cracks are allowed.
2).Crack in the surface:①Crack width≤1.0㎜ crack,Required length a≤1/2·L,and a<300㎜;  ②Crack width>1.0mm crack,Required length a≤30㎜;
3).penetrating crack:
(1).Glass contact surface,crack width≤1.0㎜:①.while L≤400㎜,a≤10%·L 10㎜
②.while L>400㎜,a≤10%·L 20㎜
③.furnace ridge and Acute brick,a≤10%·L 30㎜
furnace ridge is brick thickness 250~325㎜.width <800㎜.length<600㎜。furnace ridge of container-glass furnace using①and②inspection。
(2).Non-glass contact surface,crack width≤1.0㎜:①.general: d≤25%·D
②.Acute brick: d≤33%·D
4).penetrating crack and three sides circumferential crack:not allowed。
The processing, assembly and on-site installation quality of fused AZS brick have great influence on the service life of the kiln and need to pay more attention to the assembly acceptance standard.
