Refractory Bricks

Application of refractory bricks and castables in waste incinerators, radiation chambers, etc.

Apr 25,2024

In addition to the combustion chamber, the following five parts of the garbage incinerator also need to use refractory bricks or refractory castables. Each part uses different refractory bricks and castables according to its own working environment.

01Garbage input port

At the garbage input port, the input garbage comes into contact with the refractory lining, causing impact and friction on the refractory layer. On the one hand, the input port is subject to high-temperature radiation in the furnace, and on the other hand, it is in direct contact with the garbage and the leachate that enters the input port with the garbage. Therefore, The refractory layer material is required to have good wear resistance and thermal shock resistance.

Usually the garbage input port uses wear-resistant castables that are easy to construct. It is required that the refractory degree is above 900℃, the wear resistance is ≤8cm3 according to ASTMC-704 specification, the thermal shock stability is ≥20 times, and the laying thickness is 100~150mm.

02Radiation room

The high-temperature flue gas directly contacts the colder water-cooled wall wall of the radiation chamber. The molten slag in the flue gas easily adheres to the surface of the water-cooled wall. Under the high-temperature radiation of the incineration furnace, the molten slag easily grows and accumulates, forming coking; at the same time, the attached molten slag easily causes High temperature corrosion of water pipes. Therefore, refractory materials should be laid near the outlet of the incinerator. SiC materials that are resistant to slag erosion and have good thermal conductivity are usually used. The thickness of the refractory layer is 80~100mm, so that the radiation chamber can have appropriate heat absorption capacity to cool high temperatures. smoke.

03Other tube holder openings

Waste incinerator furnaces and radiation chambers are usually equipped with various pipe holders, such as leachate injection pipe holders, secondary air pipe holders, flue gas recirculation pipe holders, water spray desuperheating pipe holders, ignition or auxiliary burner pipes Due to the influence of the sprayed medium on such pipe seats, the refractory materials laid must have appropriate refractoriness, good thermal shock resistance and good constructability. Typically castable or plastic is used.

04Gasification and melting furnace secondary combustion chamber

The flue gas temperature in the secondary combustion chamber of the gasification and melting furnace is as high as 1200~1400°C. It is sealed with a membrane water-cooled wall structure with good sealing performance. The water-cooled wall is used as part of the evaporation heating surface of the boiler. A refractory lining is laid in the furnace to reduce The water-cooled wall absorbs heat and maintains the internal high temperature, so that the fly ash in the flue gas can melt and flow smoothly for discharge.

Under high temperature melting and turbidity conditions exceeding 1200°C, SiC refractory materials with a SiC content of 90% are not suitable. It is necessary to choose chromium corundum refractory materials with better resistance to slag erosion. According to different temperature conditions, different chromium content of the material. Usually, chromium corundum materials containing 15%~40% Cr2O3 are used, and the laying thickness is 100~150mm.

05Door holes everywhere

Due to the complex composition of the waste input into the garbage incinerator, large pieces of non-combustible materials may be input, so the incinerator part needs to be equipped with a larger manhole, generally 500~700mm manholes. In other parts of the boiler, the corrosion of the heating surface and the integrity of the refractory lining need to be inspected, confirmed and repaired during shutdown. The manholes should be set up so that inspectors can easily access various inspection positions. The size also needs to be larger. Generally, the manholes 500~600mm manhole. The manhole door cover should pay attention to the sealing design. The sealing gasket should be high temperature resistant, corrosion resistant, and have good sealing performance. The cover is generally made into a hinge structure, which has good sealing performance and is easy to open and close.
